Rain Water Harvesting Structures By Hyderabad Metro Rail

Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd (HMRL) has come up with dual purpose rain water harvesting structures. According to NVS Reddy, Managing Director, HMRL is identifying low-lying road points/areas in the Metro corridors where the rain water stagnates. It is constructing about 100 rain water harvesting structures with injection bore wells, mostly at the edge of the roads, and about 200 structures without injection bore wells. A rain water harvesting structure is constructed all around the injection bore well. Each structure can hold a minimum of 5,000 litres (one tanker) of water at any point of time and the rain water constantly gets sucked in at a good speed to deep underground layers through the injection bore well. Each such rain water harvesting structure with injection bore well costs around Rs 1.5 lakh, Reddy said in a release.
