New Projects for Thiruvananthapuram Infrastructure Development
While fast-track projects like smart bus shelters, water kiosks, open gym, multi-level car parking, public bike sharing, and others will be undertaken under the Smart City project, projects like urban transport programmes, open space/park, storm water drainage programmes, drinking water projects and others will become part of the AMRUT project. “The said projects will be undertaken in a time-bound manner. After initial hiccups, the Smart City project has finally entered into its implementation phase as the project management consultant has submitted an inception report for the implementation of 12 projects in the first phase. In the case of AMRUT, 51 projects worth Rs 357.50 crore will be undertaken, which will be completed within March 2020,” said an officer with the Town Planning Department.
According to the officer, of the 51 projects being planned under AMRUT project, technical sanction has been provided to 41 projects. While tender proceedings of 39 projects have been completed, 22 projects have moved towards the implementation phase. The 22 projects that will be undertaken include four drinking water projects, five sewerage projects, 11 storm water drainage projects and one project each in urban transport and open space/park.
