Ramboll Team to Develop New £50M Liverpool Cruise Liner Terminal

Danish engineering consultancy Ramboll has been appointed by Liverpool City Council to lead a technical team to develop a £50m, new permanent Cruise Terminal Facility on the River Mersey, UK.
The council is making progress with proposals for the new terminal to welcome the world’s biggest cruise ships. An outline planning permission has been granted for the scheme in April and the city council has applied through Mersey Docks for a Harbour Revision Order for the construction of the jetty on the River Mersey. The project is expected to create more than 500 new jobs. A reserved matter planning application is expected to be submitted in November.
The multi-disciplinary design team includes architects Stride Treglown, cost managers Gardiner & Theobald, global planning and property consultants JLL, and landscape architects Hyland Edgar Driver.
In May 2017, the council appointed Ramboll to lead the technical team, which initially prepared detailed designs for the planning application and they were submitted in November 2017. Ramboll will provide design services, assist with the procurement of a contractor, and project manages and assists with the ongoing monitoring of the construction of the new facility.
