Tata Steel, JSW Confident Of Competing With Arcelor Mittal In India

India’s top steelmakers Tata Steel and JSW Steel are unfazed by the entry of the world’s largest steelmaker ArcelorMittal into India after creditors shortlisted the latter as the preferred bidder for the 10-million-tonne Essar Steel.

Separately, JSW and Tata Steel are rejigging their acquisition strategy to diversify their product offerings.

“From a Tata Steel perspective, we are confident that we have enough equity in the domestic market and we have the technology and the product lines and people and relationships that we require. We also, anyway, compete with ArcelorMittal and everyone else in Europe and are very familiar with the nature of competition” noted a Tata Steel official.
