Roadmap For Modernization Of Indian National Airspace System
The objective of this study is to develop a CNS/ATM roadmap for AAI for modernization of the Indian National Airspace System (NAS). Utilizing global and regional best practices as a benchmark, the technical assistance shall recommend a roadmap and implementation plan for AAI to improve airspace utilization and implement CNS/ATM air and ground equipage in the short, medium and long term (up to ten years). The Boeing Company (Seattle, Washington) will carry out the technical assistance which will create a roadmap to enhance communications, expand existing systems and airspace capacity, and invest in navigation and surveillance/air traffic management.
On this occasion, Dr. Guruprasad Mohapatra, Chairman, AAI said,“India recently celebrated the 50th consecutive months of double digit growth which is still continuing. This growth has brought several challenges with it of maintaining safe and efficient aircraft operations. Hence, it was decided to draw a robust roadmap for sustained ANS infrastructure to meet the growth challenges in a planned way. We have entered into a grant agreement with USTDA, under which Boeing will provide the technical knowhow to develop a future roadmap for smoother and efficient skies”.
