King Of The Road: Volvo DD90B & SD110BA
Volvo CE is an industry leader in the supply of equipment to road building companies. As activity levels continue to rise in this sector, the company has introduced new technology – in its two newest compactors - to maintain the leadership position. Productivity remains the single biggest focus for road building contractors. As the Government of India looks to raise road building levels from the 23 km a day to 40 km a day, the implications are clear. We need new equipment to handle these increased targets; and not only that, the equipment has to offer higher levels of output and better reliability. At Volvo CE, we have a long-standing reputation for fuel-efficient, high-performance equipment that delivers unbeatable uptime. The latest two launches in our compactor line continue this rich tradition. The DD90B double drum asphalt compactor can handle varying conditions and widths to offer flexible pavement compaction in a variety of applications, including parking lots and airport runways. Similarly, the updated SD110BA single-drum compactor is designed with productivity in mind, combining powerful performance, quality compaction and versatility to adapt to earthwork compaction applications in India. Both the DD90 and SD110BA were launched at the end of 2016. Volvo DD90B: Powerful and Efficient Performance The Volvo DD90B is built in India and engineered to deliver the compaction performance necessary to accommodate the heavy volumes of traffic that the sub-continent’s roads carry. Using extensive knowledge and experience, Volvo CE built the new model to ensure that compaction rates and pavement final density are suitable for a variety of operational circumstances, delivering high quality output. Built for power and efficiency, the Volvo DD90B combines high centrifugal force, heavy drum weight and variable amplitude to produce the energy necessary for excellent compaction. With the choice of dual amplitudes and frequencies, the 9-ton double drum asphalt compactor delivers a smooth, finished mat in fewer passes for optimum productivity and profitability. In addition to this, the heavy-duty DD90B is powered by a diesel engine that optimizes fuel consumption, while minimizing noise and emissions. The premium fuel-efficient Bharat Stage-III compliant engine delivers high torque at reduced speed without compromising power, ensuring superior performance and fuel efficiency.
