Fugro Awarded Investigation Contract For Hong Kong International Airport Expansion
Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) has awarded Fugro another significant land site investigation contract as a part of the HKD 141.5 billion three-runway system (3RS) project for the expansion of Hong Kong International Airport. Fugro will perform geotechnical drilling and cone penetration tests on newly reclaimed land, and provide laboratory testing to acquire geotechnical data for the new passenger building and related infrastructure.
This project is the latest in a series of engagements undertaken by Fugro since 2011 on the 3RS project, providing AAHK and their engineering and construction partners with preliminary and detailed marine site investigations, geotechnical monitoring, and laboratory and environmental services.
In addition to unlocking insights from Geo-data, Fugro’s work on the 3RS project helped AAHK validate the first large-scale use in Hong Kong of the more environmentally friendly deep cement mixing ground-improvement technique.
