Crushing And Screening Industry: Growing At A Rapid Pace
With the government’s recent surge in investments in the infrastructure sector, the construction equipment market is expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of ~7% till 2023, according to Piero Guizzetti, CEO, MB Crusher India.
Currently, there is a growing emphasis and investment on infrastructure development by the government, which in turn is giving the much-needed push to the construction sector, says T. Chandrasekhar, Director-Technical, Aparna Enterprises Ltd. “On the demand side, it’s not just the growth momentum that the Indian equipment sector is witnessing, but also a positive approach among buyers who are increasingly more receptive to innovative equipment, machinery, and solutions, being offered by manufacturers,” says Guizzetti.
“The booming infrastructure of the country has created a huge demand for stone aggregates and natural sand, as the same is a rudimentary element in the production of concrete which is used for most infrastructure projects,” comments Chandrasekhar. Apart from the infrastructure, he has observed that real estate sector is also a leading consumer of metal aggregates. In affirmation with the government’s decision to provide funds for stalled real estate projects and help revive the construction activity in the sector, he says that this will also help in pushing the demand for metal aggregates.
Further, as far as mobile crushing and screening plants are concerned, Ramesh Palagiri, Managing Director, Wirtgen India Private Limited, expects a shift from captive usage to rental fleet owners, and a demand for higher capacity mobile plants above 350 tons per hour, wherein the cost of operation will be less and productivity will be higher.
“Due to the increased focus on project completion time as well as higher capital investment, wherein most of the road contractors want to be asset light, the demand for rental machines are going to be high,” says Palagiri. However, more than rental of crushers, “it’s the contract crushing by contractors that will be the norm and we see a tremendous potential in this space,” believes R. S. Raghavan, Managing Director and Co-Founder, Proman Infrastructure Services Pvt Ltd.
Keestrack’s product range contains a wide line-up of jaws,
cones, impactors, scalpers and classifying screens, etc.
The current market scenario seems to be sluggish at the movement for the equipment sector, according to Palagiri. “The major growth drivers will depend upon the government funding for infra projects.” Similarly, the major growth drivers for the crushing and screening industry, according to Raghavan, “are the infrastructure spending, easing of financial support by banks and the NBFC, and the boost to housing. These growth drivers will also trigger the Indian economy.”
In fact, Chandrasekhar suggests that, “in the Union budget, the government had announced their plans to invest Rs 100 lakh crores towards infrastructure in the next five years.” Moving further to the future demand boosters for metal aggregates, “the government initiatives like launching of innovative financial vehicles such as Infrastructure Debt Funds (IDFs), Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), etc. is expected to boost the demand for crushed metal aggregates.” Whereas, “the increased spending on projects like Bharatmala, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, etc. will positively impact the demand for crushed stone aggregates.”
“Construction sites need to become more and more independent directly at site with as little dependence on third party suppliers”, suggests Guizzetti. “As India expands its infrastructure network, some of the more mountainous and hard to reach areas will also get connected; for these specific applications, MB products’ benefits cannot be matched.”
