Layher Protect Systems For Temporary Dustproof Without Interruption Wall
Layher Scaffolding Systems Pvt Ltd
he brand promise made by Layher is the expression of a brand philosophy that the company has been living by for over 65 years. More speed, more safety, more proximity, more simplicity and more future – are the values with which we strengthen our customers’ competitiveness in the long term. With our innovative systems and solutions, we’re working all the time on making scaffolding construction simpler, more economical and, above all, safer.
The Layher Protect System is a cassette enclosure system for the most stringent requirements for environmental conservation, traffic protection and noise insulation. The airtight connection of the cassettes means they can be used as a dust and noise protection wall, for example, during asbestos clearance or restoration work. They can also be used all the year round for buildings, scaffolding covering, façade appearance improvement, event solutions, sandblasting work, partition walls, etc.
To ensure that the customers were able to shop during renovation work without disturbance, the solution had to be functional, but at the same time attractive as well; the solution is Layher’s Protect System. This dustproof enclosure system effectively keeps out dust from construction – and looked good as well.
Application Layher Protect System
Layher’s Protect System is a comprehensive weather, cladding and hazard protection solution.
The system’s fully enveloping design creates a protective skin around the structure, protecting workers and the public from hazards, and providing an effective means to control noise, dust and other environmental contaminants.
Shoppers nowadays are looking for adventure, and this has brought a number of changes to the design of shopping centres. They’re no longer just a place to buy things; they’re a place for people to enjoy themselves. The Weser park shopping centre in Bremen, which opened in 1990, reflects this trend; it offers an ‘Oasis’ for wellness, a bowling alley and a cinema called the Crystal Palace. And to remain competitive in the future, this shopping centre, one of the largest in northern Germany, is now being renovated and expanded at considerable expense. At the same time, business must also continue. So, to not spoil people’s shopping experience during this period, a temporary partition wall has been set up to protect the visitors from dust and keep them from entering the construction site mistakenly.
This was a challenging task for a company specializing in property and project management. “Site protection is becoming increasingly important in
construction projects, especially in locations like Weserpark, which are highly frequented. In order to avoid site shutdowns, we not only have to provide protection against the effects of weather, but also protect pedestrians from dust, noise and falling objects. When we erected the temporary partition wall, a number of factors were considered - assembling it quickly to hold to our schedule and giving it an attractive appearance in accordance with with the prestigious surroundings,” explains the project director. These were the requirements that ordinary tarpaulins could not fulfil.
The Weserpark Shopping Centre in Bremen
The system solution consists of a comprehensive construction kit made up of cassette elements. Depending on the needs, they are provided with a galvanized steel sheet, a translucent plastic ribbed panel or real glass,” he continues. “This permits work in daylight conditions and allows visitors to peek behind the scenes. By means of cassettes of different length and special corner elements, we can perfectly adapt temporary partitions made from the Protect System to the given geometry. An all-round rubber seal on the cassettes ensures a neat and precisely fitting connection to the adjacent elements. The temporary partitions thus, can seal off individual areas and allow operations to continue without obstruction – both in front and behind them.”
The Commissioning team consisted of three sections with a total area of 700 sq. m. The team first put up Layher Allround Scaffolding as a substructure. Moreover, the system’s modular structure assured an exact match to the shape of the building, and its ingenious bolt-free wedge head connection technology saved time during assembly. The wall cassettes and real glass cassettes were easy to mount, even in corner areas. Also, to keep disruption of business to a minimum, the scaffolding erectors worked both night and day. Thus, the 8-metre-high partition walls were completed in only a week. The result was an efficient site protection structure that provided ideal conditions for renovation and modernization of the shopping centre.
Protection Against Site Hazards
The Layher Protect System uses a rubber seal to form a watertight and dust-proof barrier around its outer perimeter. This makes it suitable for an almost endless variety of construction uses, including weather protection, controlling demolition dust and other particulates, and environmentally sensitive applications, such as façade cladding, and sandblasting projects.
Environmental Protection Constructed on an Oil Rig at Sea
The system provides physical protection with wall cassettes constructed using lightweight aluminium frames and either sheet steel or translucent plastic panels. This places a strong barrier between work spaces and pedestrians, guarding against falling debris and other site hazards. Therefore, the Protect System is an extremely effective way to meet the customer’s weather protection requirements, hazard reduction and environmental protection obligations in a single comprehensive solution.
