Atal Tunnel Certified as World’s Longest Highway tunnel above 10k ft

The World Book of Records has officially certified Atal Tunnel as the longest highway tunnel above 10,000 feet in the world. The ceremony for this was held in Delhi on Wednesday, and the achievement was announced by the Union Ministry of Defence.

The award of ‘World’s Longest Highway Tunnel above 10,000 Feet’ was received by Border Roads Organisation Director General Lt. Gen Rajeev Chaudhry, in an honour marking the achievement of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). The tunnel, built by the BRO, connects Lahaul-Spiti Valley with Manali.


BRO Plans to invest ₹ 1,400 Cr to Build Roads in Arunachal

The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is eyeing to invest around ₹ 1,400 crore for different projects in Arunachal Pradesh this year, a senior official said.

The BRO is already building roads worth `1,000 crore in the state, its Additional Director General for Northeast PKH Singh issued a statement.

“The BRO plans to invest ₹ 1,300-1,400 crore in the state this year of the total allocated ₹ 20,000 crore,” he said.Forest clearance for roads worth at least ₹ 2,500 crore is pending with the state government, he said, adding that he is working to get those soon.
