Dextra Contributes To The Tallest Precast Tower In India
Aurobindo Realty and Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd.’s most recent venture in the real estate industry exhibits a modern effect on high-end structures. It is India’s tallest commercial office tower built with precast technology. Galaxy Towers is one such landmark. With a 105 m tall expanse, this magnificent structure towers above the rest of the city’s skyline. It reflects the novelty and precision involved in crafting this grand structure, with 24 stories of sheer elegance, a magnificent glass facade and a fresh design.
Out of 24 stories of the building, the precast sections started from 7th floor in which Dextra played the key role, supplying a critical part of the precast structure: Groutec L coupler, a half-grouted sleeve designed for the connection of precast elements and manufactured in compliance with Eurocode 2, BS 8110, ACI 318, IBC, AASHTO & IS 16172. 102,000 Groutec L couplers have been delivered for this project.
Groutec is designed and tested to be compatible with major cementitious non-shrink grout brands, easily available in the Indian market to reduce the overall cost and simplify sourcing. Every coupler is marked, allowing Dextra full traceability from production date, QC inspection and tests report as well as material certificate.
Apart from delivering the couplers in timely manner to match with the astonishing construction speed, Dextra also supported on various fronts including conducting some trainings for the on-site stats, giving close supervision during the concrete casting phase, and making sure that the threading machines run productively in accordance with the production demand.
Furthermore, Dextra also advised in forming of columns’ specific templates which were used to pre-check rebar positions before the erection of each column. This carefully planned activity helped speed up the overall project by augmenting the erection speed. The first column was grouted in the presence of Dextra to ensure that the right practices were observed and implemented.
By installing Groutec L couplers in the precast columns and walls at the precast factory, a fast and safe connection of walls and columns is achieved by injecting cementitious non-shrink grout through the inlet into the sleeves at site.
At site, the large axial misalignment that Groutec L cavity tolerates, provided an easy precast element erection, and increased the productivity.
Galaxy Towers is built in record time with significantly reduced average floor cycle time: half the time of a comparable conventional cast-in-situ construction, illustrating how the precast technology has gained ground thanks to its efficiency.
