Japan Commits ₹7,084 Cr for Three Infra Projects in India

Japan recently committed ₹7,084.5 crore to India for three infrastructure projects, including Patna Metro Rail Construction Project and Rajasthan Water Sector Livelihood Improvement Project. Notes in this regard were exchanged between Rajat Kumar Mishra, Additional Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs and Japan Ambassador to India Suzuki Hiroshi, an official statement said.

Japan would fund Patna Metro Rail Construction Project (I) of JPY 98.612 billion (about `5,509 crore), Project for Forest and Biodiversity Conservation for Climate Change Response in West Bengal of JPY 9.308 billion (about `520 crore) and Rajasthan Water Sector Livelihood Improvement Project (II) of JPY 18.894 billion (about ₹1,055.53 crore)


Mercom CEO Says, India Needs to Install 30 GW Solar Capacity Annually
to Meet 280 GW Target by 2030

India will require to add 30 GW of solar energy capacity annually to meet the 280 GW solar capacity installation target by 2030, according to US-based Mercom Capital. Sharing his outlook, Mercom Capital CEO Raj Prabhu said, "The outlook is very positive on the back of various steps taken by the government to help and support the domestic renewable energy sector".

"We must change our mindset from a 10 GW a year industry to a 30 GW a year solar industry and establish all the necessary infrastructure - physical, policy and financial to achieve the 280 GW goal (solar capacity installation) along with the energy transition goals," he said.


SJVN’s Sunni Dam to be Constructed by Rithwik Projects for ₹1,098 Cr

Rithwik Projects will build 382 MW Sunni Dam hydro power project for `1,098 crore for state-run SJVN Ltd. SJVN signed the Contract Agreement for engineering, procurement and construction of civil and hydro-mechanical works of 382 MW Sunni Dam Hydro Electric Project, a SJVN statement said.

The Letter of Award for Civil & Hydro-Mechanical works was issued on 14th Jan.'23. On Mar.'23, a contract agreement for the same was executed after completion of all prerequisites. Infrastructure development to facilitate timely execution of the project and mobilization of major contractors at project site is at full pace. This project is scheduled to be completed within 58 months i.e, by Nov.'23. The 382 MW Sunni Dam Project is a run-of-the-river project situated in Shimla and Mandi districts of Himachal Pradesh on river Satluj


New Greenfield Airport Near Sabrimala Receives Centre’s Green Flag

The ministry of civil aviation (MoCA) granted site clearance for the new ‘Greenfield Airport’ project in Kerala’s Kottayam district which falls close to Sabarimala temple in the Pathanamthitta district.

The project received clearance after multiple rounds of discussions between the ministry and Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC), the project proponent. The Ministry has stated that this airport will improve connectivity and contribute to the overall development of the region.

The Kottayam Greenfield Airport project will be developed on a 2,250-acre land, through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model with an investment of approximately ₹4,000 crores.
