Two Highways Inaugurated that Reduces Delhi-Patna Travel Time by ‘10 Hours’
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari has inaugurated a highway that is to reduce travel time between Delhi to Bihar by at least 10-15 hours. The 92-km-long 4-lane highway connects south Bihar with the national capital Delhi via Purvanchal Expressway in Uttar Pradesh.
Gadkari inaugurated two National Highway projects worth ₹3,390 crore in Buxar. He said with 44 km 4-lane Koilwar to Bhojpur section on NH-922 constructed at a cost of ₹1,662 crore and 48 km 4-lane Bhojpur to Buxar section on NH-922 constructed at a cost of ₹1,728 crore connectivity with Purvanchal Expressway will be easy.
“This will make it easy to reach Delhi from Bihar via Lucknow. The time taken to reach Delhi will be reduced from 15 hours to 10 hours,” he further added.
India Needs to Invest Nearly $55 Bn a Year in Urban Infra as per
World Bank Report
A new World Bank report assesses that India will need to invest $840 billion over the next 15 years — an average investment of $55 billion per annum — into urban infrastructure to meet the needs of its fast-growing urban population.
Titled “Financing India’s Infrastructure Needs: Constraints to Commercial Financing and Prospects for Policy Action”, the report focuses on an urgent need to leverage more private and commercial investments to meet emerging financial gaps.
By 2036, 600 million people will be living in urban cities in India, representing 40% of the population which is likely to put additional pressure on the already stretched urban infrastructure and services of Indian cities
MORTH Approves ₹68,000 Cr worth of Road Projects in 4 NE States
Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari approved new road projects, valued at ₹68,000 crore, in four Northeastern states to make rod connectivity of international standard. Gadkari said that new projects worth `50,000 crore for Assam, ₹9,000 crore for Meghalaya, ₹5,000 crore for Nagaland and ₹4,000 crore for Sikkim were approved.
“Our aim is to change the entire scenario of road transport in NE by 2024. We target to make roads of international standards in this region,” he said.
